‘Stories To Tell’ - Megan And The Common Threads - a recipe for memorable music

(March 07, 2017)

The amalgamation of a distinctly felt Irish heritage overlaid with strong shades of Americana, expounded through self-penned songs suffused with touches of rock, country, pop and folk ... a recipe for some memorable music if ever there was Megan And The Common Threadsone. The result is a release from Megan And The Common Threads and if you’ve not come across their infectious enthusiasm, then you should listen to ‘Stories To Tell’ ... whether it’s a mini-album or an EP is beside the point, what you get is six tracks that once heard remain for a long time.

The energy begins with the observational ‘London City Ghosts’, pours through the ‘Blessing Or A Curse’ and into the ominous tale of ‘Walls’. The rock impetus is imparted by drums and bass that hold the songs through their guitar and fiddle embellished narratives, with Megan O’Neill’s vocals soaring above. ‘Devil And The Deep’ comes in with touches of blues added to the rocky edge, the title track ‘Stories To Tell’ delivers a darker narrative, while the softer harmonies of ‘Awake Into The Light’ close out the album.

‘Stories To Tell’ from Megan And The Common Threads is a short exposure of their sound, which leads to an inevitable request for more.
